FAQs
What kind of light is the CINEPEER CX100?
The CX100 is a 100W palm-sized point source light designed for portable outdoor and studio shooting.
Unlike traditional heavy 100W film lights, it addresses the cost barrier of the ZHIYUN MOLUS X100 by offering high-power output and core features in a more accessible, value-focused package.
What are the main differences between the CX100 and the MOLUS X100?
Battery Design:
CX100: Built-in, non-detachable battery for an all-in-one design.
X100: Uses a detachable grip battery system.
Controls & Display:
CX100: Uses stepless analog dials for parameter adjustment (no display screen).
X100: Features an OLED parameter display screen.
App Control:
CX100: No Bluetooth or mobile app control.
X100: Supports ZY Vega Bluetooth app control.
Is the CX100 bright enough for everyday use?
Yes. Delivering a 100W power output and a peak illuminance of 3,840 Lux at 1 meter, the CX100 ranks among the top of its class, providing ample cinema-grade brightness for daily production needs.
How is the heat dissipation and fan noise on the CX100?
The CX100 utilizes ZHIYUN's proprietary electronic back-pressure cooling system, which provides:
- High-efficiency thermal dissipation.
- Quiet operation during continuous use.
- Stable, long-lasting 100W power output.
How is the color performance, and is it suitable for portraits?
Color Temperature Range: 2700K–6500K (Bi-color)
Color Accuracy: CRI ≥96 | TLCI ≥97
Included Accessory: Comes standard with a customized softbox for soft, flattering lighting ideal for portraiture.
What mount system does the CX100 use?
Native Mount: ZY Mount (compatible with lightweight ZHIYUN modifiers).
Bowens Compatibility: Compatible with standard Bowens-mount accessories via a Bowens mount adapter ring.
What is the battery life, and how can it be powered?
Internal Battery Runtime: ~30 minutes at 100% peak brightness.
Power & Fast Charging Options:
DC power input.
PD-compliant Type-C fast charging (supports simultaneous charging and full-power operation via PD power banks or wall adapters).
What are the typical use cases for the CX100?
Equipped with built-in 1/4″ screw threads and dynamic mounting setups, the CX100 is tailored for:
- Outdoor shooting & travel photography
- Livestreaming & vlog fill lighting
- Cosplay & portrait photography
- Product lighting & TVC commercial production

I was genuinely surprised by the CINEPEER CX100. For such a small and portable light, the 100W output is very powerful. I tested it indoors, for portraits, bounced from walls and ceilings, and even outdoors in bright sunlight.
The adjustable color temperature from 2700K to 6500K was accurate in my tests, and I measured around 30,300 lux at approximately 50 cm. The built-in battery is also useful, giving about 30 minutes at full power and much longer at lower brightness levels.
I especially like the compact size, comfortable handheld design, quiet fan and included reflector. The metal tripod mounts are also a good detail.
My main complaints are the non-removable battery and the plastic reflector locking part, which should be handled carefully. Switching light on is not so easy every time :)
Overall, this is a very impressive portable light for photographers, videographers and content creators, especially considering the price.

Great value for money and fast delivery
J
It arrived quickly and well-packaged. It's a high-quality and portable product. I was able to charge it with a 20W USB-C charger, but I will purchase a 24V power supply (not included). It's a shame that I can't connect the CX100 via Bluetooth. Otherwise, great value for money due to its power and practicality.

The light comes well packaged and is securely protected with foam surrounds.Assembly of the light shade with the lighting unit is straight forward and it clicks easily into place.Charging is via a connection port on the bottom which is hidden beneath a rubber cover. The unit turns on via a two step process, useful to prevent accidental activation as the unit will get very hot when on.There is a small LCD display on the rear, can be quite hard to read. The light is controlled by two buttons near the display which control intensity and white balance. All done in real time so you can fine turn the effect to your preference. There is a 1/4" female thread on the bottom so it can placed on a tripod / monopod etc.I tried downloading the App to control the lighting more but got a warning on the phone about possible danger so at the moment have not tried this facility. In summary the light appears well made and powerful, it would have been nice to have a small padded carry bag but something else can easily be adapted for this.Recommended
