I rarely get this massively impressed by a light. And it's not my first from Zhiyun. I have their Cinepeer light, which, at first glance, is a non-RGB earlier version of the Molus. It even pretty much looks the same. But actually there are many more differences.To begin with - it does look a bit nicer. The green color combined with the leather back looks really cool, inspired by a visual artist and signed by his name. You also get a stylish carry bag (finally - the Cinepeer didn't have any!), which is a bit��baggy, but you can fit a lot in there and it's very secure thanks to lots of foam inserts.Whole presentation is great - you have a branded, very sturdy external box, then inside you have even nicer separate box for the light, the mount/full Bowens adapter and the small soft box. It's actually a Cinepeer one!!!One thing I literally like in this model is that you can detach the battery and do it just with a press of a button. Not only it makes the whole thing smaller and lighter - combined with the included power adapter you can plug it in the mains and use it for longer without needing to recharge. The third option is USB-C cable. Very versatile.Knobs look the same but are different. The intervals are now much more precise - most things you can adjust per 1%. They also act as buttons with different functions - another innovation.You finally get a display! I think that was my main issue with the Cinepeer. You were kind of setting all parameters blindly, just by eye (or an external device). Here you can finally see exactly what you're doing. It also helps if you get more than one of these wonders and want to ensure they all have the same setup.I have many other lights and quite a few of them can be controlled by an app. Now the Molus has its own too.Apart from everything you can do with the knobs and buttons on the device, you also get a bunch of useful presets for each mode and ability to save your own. You then get firmware upgrades and ability to set scenes, including other compatible lights from Zhiyun. Unfortunately my Cinepeer hasn't got any option to connect! Oh wellOf course the Molus is also an RGB light, so you can generate pretty much any color you like or need. This is quite crucial for me as I do use different colors for ambience, highlighting or muting certain colors on set. Of course I have other lights I can use, but this one is the mightiest of the smallest ones. It gives me studio power and quality anywhere I want, not just indoors where I get access to mains power.Finally - in this pro-version the light comes with additional accessories. Apart from the mentioned carrying bag you get the barn door for the mini lens reflector, a very useful stand mount/full Bowens adapter and a great mini soft box with its own bag you can then mount under the main carry bag. That's a very decent and useful package, but comes with a price tag compared to the standard version.Any negatives? Actually there is one. The cable leading from the power adapter to the device is too short. If you're using a stand and want to put it up high, you'll have to strap the adapter to the stand. The cable from adapter to mains has plenty of length. A schoolboy's mistake really, but it still hurts a little bit��I actually went and looked at my review of the Cinepeer. In it I listed quite a few things I'd like to see coming with the light - the app, bag, full Bowena mount��Now I feel like someone from Zhiyun read the review and went - we can do that! Price of the Molus alone is higher than Cinepeer, but you get so much more. You have to pay even more for the Pro version with additional accessories, but if you have the ��480 to spend - it's worth it. I love this new light and will use it in tandem with the Cinepeer. I'm mostly into lightweight equipment as I do a lot of shooting outdoors. With this light I get so much more and I still end up just taking the backpack. Awesome!!!Thank you for reading my review. This much power, in such a light, small form factor amazes me. The rechargeable battery that is included in the box can sustain constant high power for an impressive period, but of course the included mains-connected power supply is in my opinion the best way to power this device during a shoot. That said, it might be handy to acquire a couple of spare battery packs. These are preferable over Vmounts to power this if full power is required on the go.I really like the adjustability options built into this system that enable a full RGB spectrum in addition to a number of scenes, that themselves can be adjusted and tuned.Included in the pack I received was a full size Bowen Mount adapter, small softbox, barn doors, diffuser, battery-pack mains power adapter, and a USB cable along with the manual. The softbox is supplied with a carry pouch, while the main light, battery pack, mains power supply, and barn doors all fit into the supplied protective soft-bag. The Bowens adapter sadly won't fit into either carry bag, but could possibly be attached to the tripod straps on the outside of the soft-bag at a push, I suppose.Looking at the rig, I have in mind looking for a mini-Bowens adapter to connect my mini Gobos projector, as it looks like it should work fine. Of course there are numerous options and accessories that can be connected via the normal Bowens, and I know the manufacturer offers a Gobos projector and various other accessories that fit, probably natively.Affordable value in my opinion, for this much power and versatility, excellent.

But as a set it is worth it.I'm no stranger to the Molus range of lighting, already owning several, and this is no better nor worse than any of the other I use.What makes it stand apart however is what it is packaged wit, Zhiyun have collaborated with a relatively well known YouTuber to put this together as a complete run and gun package and whether you love him or hate him you can't deny he has done a good job.The carry case is compact so easy to carry alone or sling in a backpack and whilst it won't take the softbox, this comes with its own pouch and fits perfectly under the straps on the lower side of the main case.The inclusion of a softbox and barn doors allows one to adapt to a lot of situations both indoors and out doors.As you can see from the photos, one of my main use cases is lighting for my own YouTube set up, a task it excels at given how easy it is to set up then pack away, my usual wall mounted light has been made somewhat redundant and the arm now sees more use as a Mic stand.The only con, and I won't knock a star off for this, is the ZY Vega app.When it works it works well, but it has a habit of being very flakey and really didn't want to connect to this new light, I managed to add it eventually after resetting bluetooth on the light a couple of times.How I Rate- ***** Don��t think, just buy it!- **** Nothing to complain about, I��d spend my own money on this.- *** Does what it should but there may be better alternatives- ** Problems or issues encountered that outweigh any benefits.- * Run for the door!

What an absolute excellent bit of kit this is.A great package for amateur to professional photographers.The quality of this product is second to none and in my personal opinion is a brilliant purchase.The lighting you can achieve from this product really does amaze me and the brightness of it blew me away, as it did with my friends who have seen it.Perfect for your indoor lighting needs and also outdoor, even if pitch black environments.With it being the RGB one you can achieve so much more than just a standard white light.It has preset settings to choose from and I especially like the police setting where it imitates the presence of a police car. (Great for filmography as well)For me this is now my go to light for all my photography and yes while the price is over ��400 currently, in my opinion you can't put a price on quality products and this is definitely one of them.ConclusionDon't hesitate, I'm loving this set and absolutely recommend it.Full 5 ?? stars from me ??

Just unwrapping this makes you aware that this is a well-designed light, much like the packaging in fact as even the boxes are in a class on their own. Everything is so precise: there are three main boxes inside that contain the light with assorted accessories and power adapter but oddly the Bowens adapter is on its own, no case or bag. The light unit is in a well-designed, zipped holdall together with the accessories and instruction manual. The manual is basically an illustration type layout rather than lots of written instructions to wade through and it works well. There was power in the battery/grip when it arrived judging by the LED status array, so I clipped it using the manual as a guide so soon had the LCD display on the light appear, then a skip though the menu to click on the English language, from the default Chinese, option on. Going through the assorted combinations of light intensity and colour hues bring it to life that goes from a basic glimmer to a really bright, and it is bright light, output. It��s also possible to use the app to control it via a smart phone. Trying the assorted, supplied accessories was a doddle - the Bowens adaptor is handy to use my gobo attachment on. The Fresnel lens adapter and the barn doors connect to each other with micro magnets which do have a strong ��pull�� so hold well. The small softbox is easy to erect and using the base end clips, lock into place easily and also very easy and quick to dismantle into it's soft case. I do like the double, off-set ? inch standard threads in the base as it means you have a choice when mounting it plus able to compensate for any weight imbalance. Being able to use the battery pack/grip or run it from the mains make it extremely versatile. The light output is very consistent with no hint of flicker plus the assorted colour hues available are marvellous and obtained by simple knobs. Considering it comes with a good selection of accessories makes it a winner to my mind, although the Bowen��s adaptor will accept much more of course. Altogether a very well designed, manufactured quality light - and it shows.

This release of the ZHIYUN MOLUS X100 RGB PRO video light is version two of the 100 watt RGBCW lamp and has a number of power options as well as light modifier options. The light unit itself measures 145mm wide (including the knobs) by 94mm high by 35mm deep (including the modifier fitting on the front) and weighs a little over 390 grammes.The lighting unit has a large, metal grilled aperture on the back that houses a 74mm diameter fan for cooling the heat-sink that the light is mounted on. On the left side are two knobs that can be rotated or pressed and on the back, at the bottom-left is a button that you long-press to switch it on. On the right is a panel with a display and on the right edge, behind a rubber plug, is a socket for the battery power unit. At the bottom is a small rubber flap that conceals a 24 volt DC socket and a USB C socket that you can use as power supply alternatives. On the bottom are two quarter inch BSW tapped holes positioned so that they are close to where the lamp balances under different power scenarios.The actual light is on the other side, in the middle of the heat-sink and has the three-pronged bayonet mount around it. The lamp consists of 126 separate, square blocks that are arranged in a disc that is roughly 24mm across. They consist of: 14 each of red, green and blue (a total of 42); and, 42 each of cool white and warm white. Whilst there is a bit of cross-talk between blocks, leading to colours having other colours in them such as nominally blue, also having red and green in it, the colours are pure enough for photographic uses. As you would expect, the CCT (correlated colour temperature) is generated by using various proportions of the cool- and warm-white blocks. It extends the CCT range by adding the appropriate coloured blocks such as blue to extend the CCT upwards to 10kK and red in order to take the CCT down to 2500K.There is a smartphone application called ZY Vega that you can use to control the lamp. This makes interacting with the lamp a lot easier and when I used it the first time, it updated the lamp's software. Along the bottom of the screen are a number of options including CCT and Colour. Two of these allow you to sample a colour using the phone's camera - CCT and HSI. The controllers on the interface is in the form of sliders that are a lot easier to use than the physical knobs on the lamp and where the adjustments on the lamp are in one percent increments, they are in 0.1 per cent increments on the app (with a minimum of one per cent) although I am not sure how useful such small increments actually are.As far as power goes, there is no power stored on the lighting unit, it relies entirely upon externally supplied energy - it needs to be able to draw 100 watts which makes having the options external to the lighting unit the far more sensible option. With the kit comes a clip-on battery that locates on the right-hand side of the light, taking the centre of gravity with it - you take the rubber plug out and the battery just slots in and locks in place. The battery measures 52mm wide by 61mm deep by 94mm tall and weighs 383 grammes - making the lamp plus the battery weigh 776g. It is rated at 55Wh and is recharged using the USB C socket on the side which, sensibly, you cannot access with it plugged into the lamp. On the top is a button that you can press for a readout of charge level on the four LEDs on the back. With it plugged into the lamp, it all weighs 776 grammes and is starting to get heavy although the battery pack does have a rubber ring around the top which makes it slightly easier to hold onto.As an alternative, there is a mains adaptor that plugs into the DC socket on the bottom of the lamp and you can instead use a USB C lead from whatever power supply you want, whether that is a V-Mount block or a mains adaptor for USB C. If you press the adjust button when it is set to DIM, pressing it once will set it to half of what the power supply is capable of delivering and pressing it again will set it to all of the power so, if your USB C supply can deliver 60W ('PD60W'), it will first go to 30% (30W out of 100W) and then to 60%. One thing that I did find was that with a 100W USB C power supply, it sometimes reassessed its capabilities as 65W and would not subsequently go back up to 100W again.There are a number of light modifiers supplied with this kit: a Fresnel lens with a modified surface; optional barn doors to the Fresnel lens; a 40cm diameter soft-box. In addition, there is also a Bowens adaptor so that you can use this with your Bowens compatible light modifiers. I made measurements of the light levels using various supplied modifiers so that you can see how much they attenuate the light level. I measured them in the centre at a distance of one metre with and without the modifiers to get the results.The Fresnel lens locates on the bayonet fitting on the front of the lamp and produces a more focused light distribution than the naked lamp. Desde el primer segundo en que lo tuve en la mano, me dio esa sensaci��n de que todo ha sido dise?ado con un mimo poco com��n. Cada encaje, cada detalle de los accesorios, la textura del cuerpo, los imanes, los acabados�� nada chirr��a, nada desentona. Todo est�� tan bien pensado que parece mentira que algo tan peque?o pueda ser tan vers��til y tan preciso. Es lujo, s��, pero no un lujo aparatoso: es lujo t��cnico, funcional, medido. Y eso en nuestro sector se agradece mucho. Es el cuidado por los detalles m��s excelso que he visto en un producto de estas caracter��sticas.Analizo la versi��n Pro del ZHIYUN MOLUS X100 RGB V2, que viene con todo lo que hace falta y m��s: el softbox plegable, los visores met��licos, el adaptador Bowens, la bater��a desmontable y los distintos accesorios de modelado. Lo he cruzado con perfiles de c��mara exigentes y ha respondido sin necesidad de correcciones en post.Me gusta poder configurarlo desde la app, pero tambi��n directamente desde el cuerpo, que por cierto, tiene unos diales muy precisos. La respuesta del ventilador es r��pida y silenciosa, algo fundamental si est��s grabando audio en directo. Aun as��, si vas a ponerlo muy cerca de micro, mejor tenerlo en cuenta. La bater��a da para m��s o menos 35 minutos a tope, pero puedes alimentarlo por USB-C con un power bank potente y seguir trabajando sin interrupciones. Es verdad que si usas los modos RGB o los efectos, la bater��a se va antes, pero eso es lo normal. Por eso suelo llevar una fuente externa, y con eso ya tengo luz para rato.Hay ciertos aspectos que agradezco mucho como profesional: la fidelidad del color, la potencia real aprovechable, y sobre todo lo c��modo que es moverse con un equipo que no ocupa ni pesa nada, pero que se comporta como uno serio. El adaptador Bowens es otro acierto. Aunque el sistema ZY est�� bien resuelto, poder conectar modificadores est��ndar me ha dado margen para adaptar el set seg��n el proyecto.He probado ya varios efectos, entre ellos los de parpadeo, vela, flash de c��mara o luz de emergencia. No es que los use todos los d��as, pero cuando los necesitas, los tienes ah��, bien hechos y con posibilidades de ajuste fino. La interfaz es intuitiva y la construcci��n del conjunto transmite mucha confianza. I have always preferred working with constant sources rather than a flash or strobe. This is the final part of my home studio and comes with everything I need. Compact and powerful, this gives great lighting especially when combined with the supplied modifiers. Not cheap, but sometimes quality demands that you pay a little more, and this is one of those times. Perfect for portraits, boudoir, large products and just about any other studio work.

This is the pro version and has some more features than the standard X100. This is the X100 RGB and is an RGB video light, offering vibrant colours suitable for a wide range of video projects. It also has a larger colour temperature range of 2700K-10,000K rather than 2700K-6500K.It was great fun trying this out although a little over kill for an amateur like me. It is powered by the grip power adaptor and can provide over half an hour of power. The 100w power cable is included to ensure quick charging.A few things I like about this light is how its so compact, portable, and easily operate with one hand. It is lightweight as well. It's so easy to use with on-board and Bluetooth app control using the ZY Vega app. It is great value and comes with barndoors and a softbox with a grid, providing light modifiers out of the box. Its worht noting the top grade cooling system and quiet operation.If you are a semi- pro or pro then you should be all over this light for professional photography and video environments.

The ZHIYUN MOLUS X100 RGB PRO V2 arrived fantastically packaged and well protected by the company.When you unbox this product you certainly feel like you're receiving something special!This is a full setup lighting kit, in the box you get.1 X100 RGB light1 x power adaptor.1 x rechargeable battery.1 x Mini softbox.1 x barn doors.1 x Bowens adaptor.1 x USBC charging cable.1 x reflector.1 x carrying bag for charger.1 x carrying case to store the whole lighting setup in for travelling.I was super impressed by the quality of this product, and it's robustness, and ease of use.Just two dials on the side of the light, one controls the brightness level, and the other controls the colour temperatures.I love the accuracy of the dialling wheels, And the brightness increments it offers you.You can also download the application, and control it from your phone remotely.A fully charged battery will give you roughly 30 minutes on the highest brightness level. 50% gives you 1 hour 30 minutes. Which is pretty impressive! So that should give you enough time whilst on shoots.Sadly this can't be powered by a USB power bank which is quite unfortunate. But you can use other USB adapters as long as they made 100 watt requirement for full power.You can get away with a 60 watt power charger, but this will only give you around 50% brightness.My dad has that old version of this light, Which isn't the RGB enabled. So we tested the brightness output and the old version is around O.2 stops brighter than this new version .Which is also pretty impressive considering this is an RGB version.One thing I must point out, is the fan noise, if doing close up video work, you will hear the fan working over a DJI clip on microphone.I was also picking up the fan noise on my USB Rode microphone, when doing voiceover work.So for all the videographers out there, the fan noise might be an issue in silent rooms, but for all normal photography work this isn't an issue.It provides some excellent ambient lighting, key lighting, and backlit illumination during my testing.One light is definitely sufficient, but Id highly recommend 2 or 3 these lights for the perfect setup.Overall, this light has been pretty impressive! it's packed full of features, it provides excellent lighting, and it's robust and durable enough to live up to daily use.
